Romancing with nature

View from the car
Everywhere around the world, a downpour is the time when people rush for a cover; but in and around Pune, India, people head towards the Sahaydri Hills to savor the splendid natural beauty that starts to unfold on these hills right after the first shower.
After various exhausting trekking trips, I decided to go, with my group, on a pure fun trip to Shivthar Ghal, a place about 100 kms away from Pune. ‘Ghal’ in Marathi means a cavern. It was the dwelling place of Shri Ramdas Swami, the guru of the Maratha King Shivaji. He scripted ‘Dasbodh’- meaning advice to the disciple- a 17th century spiritual text, here.

Ajay (behind) and Amit
We had hired a car and started pretty early, fetching every member from their home, on the cloudy Saturday morning. By the time we reached the outskirts of Pune, it had started pouring heavily and we decided it was the perfect time and weather for a hot tea and snacks. We pulled over to a road-side hotel on the highway and enjoyed steaming cups of tea, watching the thunderous showers as they washed away the dust from roads, trees and houses.

Red river... due to eroded soil
We were in no hurry to reach our destination as the curvaceous hilly roads, the waterfalls along the way, and swiftly flowing streams had caught our attention. We wanted to spend as much time possible with nature, so took frequent breaks and captured some amazing moments. The river we spotted on our way was red due to eroded soil and simple villagers walked briskly covering themselves and their animals with hand-made rain-covers, the monkeys balanced themselves on the moss covered rocks… Everything we clicked was special due to its simplistic beauty.
Even our goats need cover...aww so cute
The earth covered with lush green carpet looked so inviting that we were not bothered about the heavy rainfall; and when we crossed a broad and swift flowing stream, we decided to spend time there. The stream lead into a beautiful wild patch and all of us wadded through the knee-deep water, balancing carefully on the smooth, slippery stones, hand in hand. Some of us, who were apprehensive about taking all this trouble to reach the other side, were blissfully delighted to see the small waterfall underneath a dense canopy of trees. The pictures I clicked of the scene make beautiful wallpaper for my home laptopJ
Eroded plains
Though we had decided not to take any halt till we reach our destination, we couldn't stop ourselves from stopping once again to witness the might of nature. About 70 feet below, from where we stood, was a vast stretch of land, completely eroded and devastated by the forceful current of the seasonal river. The water that brought the hills to life, scrapped away all signs of beauty from the usually green plains!!

In our journey ahead we were able to stick to our resolution of ‘not stopping’ for pictures and reached Shivthar Ghal at noon. After parking our vehicle in the so-called parking lot by the country roadside, we proceeded towards the small shanty that served as the food court in that area. The orders have to be placed in advance for the ‘restaurant’ owner to prepare the food. The menu was fixed and we needed to inform only the quantity we would require. After placing our order we started walking towards the ghal or cave which was located at some height.

The cave
What would have been a secluded spot, apt for a poet’s concentration and a saint’s meditation, is a bustling temple now. Most of the visitors here are the pilgrims and followers of Shri Ramdas Swami. They gather in the various rooms, which have the belongings of Swamiji and meditate. The other visitors are like us; they visit the small cave where the enlightened soul once resided, check out the premises, look mesmerized at the huge waterfall next to cave and spend time posing and clicking more photographs everywhere. The only tip for the travelers to this spot is to have lots of time on hand, else you will feel sorry for not having enough time to gaze at the splendid vistas.

The group

By the time we reached the ‘restaurant’ all of us were totally soaked due to incessant rain. Piping hot food, in cold dripping clothes tasted even betterJ. We left the place at around 4 PM and in spite of all the running, jumping and drenching we indulged in throughout the day, my enthusiastic trip mates totally rocked our journey back with more laughter and Kodak moments.

Our photographer Mandar :) nothing could stop him... not even the rains

Whimsical Illusions (the inexistent)

The unsent email is still saved as a draft,
A crystal heart in my drawer, wrapped in kraft,
Some hundred SMS that you had sent,
Are all part of whimsical illusions you lent.

Our dance of passion on Earth's green carpet,
The esoteric music of our heart beat,
My imagination cascading through the wilderness,
And sliding on the gentle curves of my tress.

I stood in the green waters of sea,
Watching you walk on waves towards me.
It was the moment of utmost content,
When I smelled your love dipped scent.

My illusionary life doesn't demand reason,
For care or hate or any other emotion.
Love filled heart, guides lustful eyes,
To search for you in every sunset and sunrise.

Temple of my Soul

It was another tiring day,
Some more escalations on the way,
I am scared to wake up and take the bus,
I know my boss will create some fuss…

You help me take the first step,
Holding me too strong,
I know even if all leave me and go,
You will come along.

For rest you are just some body,
With minor role to play,
But you are the temple of my soul,
It’s me you portray.

I am crying in the rain,
Tears dripping down my chin,
Coz today I miss him again,
And no one knows my heart's in pain.

But you just somehow pick the clue,
Your tiny palms wipe my trickling blues,
Your arms hold me close and hug,
Giving me hope, love and a feel so snug.

Oh! I am so happy today,
In shining sun I made some hay!
Everything went so perfectly fine,
Almost everything is in place.

Once again, you sway in style,
And help me celebrate.
The world knows my happiness,
As you show the glow on face.

For others you are an average frame,
Living as they are,
But for me you are the caring home,
Protecting beyond par.

You are the identity for me,
Making my presence felt,
Without you no one would believe,
Even if I still exist.

I know the respect you deserve,
I understand your worth,
That’s why I will pamper you,
Till you go back to this Earth.

Back to my basics

Remember the days when the land was green,
And sky in many shades of blue,
We picked the colors from nature's palette,
To paint our dreams in various hues.

There were those nights when we played,
Underneath the sparkling sky,
When moon was like a best friend,
A simple thought we now deny.

Fluffy clouds formed so many forms,
Rabbits, deer and flying swan.
The rainbow was our overpass,
To the world in which we had never gone.

The trees were holding the heaven above,
Zephyr would whisper our names,
The wind would tease us on the swing,
Fancies that sound so lame.

Rains were the times of paper boats,
Floating hundreds in a row,
Drenching ourselves we often thought,
Lighting is divine arrow.

The snowmen of the colder states,
The sand dunes of deserts,
The forests near the mighty rivers,
The ocean's kiss to sandy earth.

The fish and bees and butterflies,
The puppies in the neighbor’s farm,
The cubs of fiercest animals of wild,
And croaking little frogs from swamp,

The whole world fascinated us,
And captivated we all believed,
The tiniest twig has life in it,
Flowery Magick perfectly weaved.

Those were the days of explicit love,
When senseless innocence thrived,
Led by basics embed by birth,
We lived a perfect life.

Today it's the world of smoke and heat and dust,
And mounting hate and stress,
I distaste and disapprove of its face,
So, I am returning back to my basics.

My Star

In thousand gazing skies,
You are the only Star shining so bright,
I look up to you,
Drawing inspirations from the things you do.

When I loved you I got to know,
Feeling is easy but difficult to show.
And now loving you is the only reason,
I love myself in every season.

Making me trust myself,
Strengthening me with unseen help.
You taught me to believe,
And showed how to let go, and relieve.

So, I always turn to you,
This faith gently slides me through,
Now nothing looks impossible,
Thanks for making my life adorable.

Dew drops…

Dew drops pouring from the sky...

Little drops… little dew drops,
Settled on the leaves…
As I think of days…those days
I see little dew drops slip.

Smiles all over, all around me,
Songs and music, all around me,
Here I am lost, amidst all the smiles,
Absorbing the dew drops in my eyes.

Each drop has your face,
Painted in the colors of my voice,
My voice that sings our songs,
Has all the colors of your choice.

Forever and ever I will remember,
Watching the dew drops dissolve,
As I waited in your arms, for the day,
Waited in your arms, for the dawn.

The love she deserves

Freedom she seeks...freedom she deserves

As I see her standing on the staircase,
I wonder which tune in her heart she plays!
I want to go ahead and give her the love she deserves,
And show her my feelings are not reserved.

I am afraid to hug her, I am helpless I can’t,
My emotions are bound by foolish social chant.
She has the most beautiful eyes on earth,
She is my girl, my daughter by birth.

They demanded a son, but she came,
Cursed from the birth, now she is a pretty dame.
When their ‘Sun’ finally rose, she nurtured him like mother.
Her baby eyes lit with love, when I murmured, “He is your brother”.

Still they complain, still they deny;
To give her the rights, and question why.
But now I care for none today,
Things will change for good, and stay.

I promise to love her more than myself,
Love her the most till my last breath,
And give her all the love I preserved,
For she is the one who truly deserve.

I am in love with you

I am in love with you,
And it feels so true…
This I have been feeling inside;
This feeling, I have been holding through.
Yeah… I am in love with you. (Chorus)

If only you would realize, the faith of my heart…
You wouldn’t be so curt and standing apart.
I promised all angels never to complain,
I will bear all whether its hate or pain.
Coz… (Chorus)

When you touched me for the first time,
My trembling body uttered a love rhyme.
Now when I hear you say ‘we were just friends’,
I really understand how a man pretends.
Still… (Chorus)

What’s my mistake to be punished so bad?
My lips never smile now, n heart’s so sad…
Tears trickle down my eyes, day n night,
Can’t we talk once again, may be just to fight!
Please… (Chorus)

Was I so imperfect that you cannot accept?
What if one day you realize and regret?
Then even if you call me I won’t come,
But this breeze will come to you and sweetly hum….

That… She was in love with you,
And it was so true…
This she had been feeling inside;
This feeling she was holding through.
Yeah… she was in love with you.

The way you believe

I wanna hold you close,
I wanna kiss your eyes,
I wanna whisper to you, those sweet lies…
I wanna see to it that all is fair,
And nothing ever goes wrong anywhere. (Chorus)

I won’t ever ask you, how much you love me,
Or bother with what you did?
Oh baby…
All I wanna do is love you forever,
And give you all that is me.
 (Chorus)

When I see you in someone’s arms,
I wonder if it’s there where you belong!
Oh baby…
Or are you just testing my feelings,
And will finally take me along!!
 (Chorus)

Look in my eyes n say what you see,
Isn’t there any way that you would believe…
Isn’t there any way that you would believe…
Oh baby…
I will be the way that you could believe…
(Chorus)

My love is so true, my heart beats for you.
And the world just seems so fine…
When I am with you…
Oh baby…
Isn’t there any way that you would believe…
(Chorus)

Oh baby…
I will be the way that you would believe… (Faint)

When the Moon touched

Can't forget the day,
When the Moon touched me in its special way;
Its white rays wrapped me in its embrace,
Slowly its love replaced,
All my ethical ways…

I dive in the sea,
Lit by my Moon’s divinity;
I care for none today,
Not even the warned uncertainty.
The forecasted storm is at the horizon,
But also there I see, my Moon waiting for me.

I swim in a meditating trance to reach my destiny,
My tired body soon declared a mutiny
“Just a little more”- something in my heart pleads…
“Here I come, please wait for me”;
Behind each desecrating tide I see my Moon recede.

“Don’t leave me now; I left the land for you”
 I exert more, on Him my gaze glued.
“You have to go back”, He smiled and said,
Ahh! Such innocent cruelty, who won’t be misled!!

“I am the King of this darkened sky,
You were but what, just a mortal ally.
Your outrageous desires need to be tamed.”
With a kiss He took away my heart, and left me maimed….

The moon has once again adjusted itself outside my window today,
Its rays seep in my room and gently touch my face, in its own special way.
Now my heartless soul no more recognizes these emotions that alight;
But something in me, still lingers to the withdrawing curtains of moonlight.

Tiny brown girl

Eyes of fire, heart full of desire,
Smile so sweet, voice a gentle treat.
Once I met her, that tiny brown girl,
Who wanted to fly high, much higher than the sky.

She spoke a lot, and heard too less,
Posed her cute idiocy, still impressed,
Always believing in her quixotic world,
She spoke of miracles, that tiny brown girl.

 The tone of her voice jingled with passion,
When she described life as in her imagination,
Something inside me wanted to trust,
The utopian universe that she sculpt.

The phantasmagoria of her memories, cross me today,
As I walk the lanes, we traveled each day.
I gave her up for what was intelligent and sane
As her thoughts were always so inane.

But deep within I finally realize,
Her soothing effect that still pacifies,
My rationality laden heart, that now often beats,
For that tiny brown girl, who in it inhabits.

I love being a woman...

I love being a woman, because I love to dress –up, put on make-up and definitely love pinks and reds;

I love being a woman, for all the finer details I follow to keep it beautiful, both me and my abode;

I love being a woman, because I know I get men’s attention everywhere I go, still only one man gets my attention;

I love being a woman, because I have the patience to wait, still I work hard to make things fall in place;

I love being a woman, because I have the stamina to endure all the pain, physical and emotional;

I love being a woman, because I know how to smile through my tears, and cry to show my joy;

I love being a woman, because I have the power to create a new life;

I love being a woman, because I know someday I will give another woman to this world;

I love being a woman, and I would love to be one in every birth on this earth.

Don’t take away this right to be a woman from anyone…it’s a beautiful feeling!

Miss you

My eyes are tired, my eyes are sore…
Awaiting your return is a painful chore,
It hurts to know, you are no more with me,
Why did you have to go, please tell me?

I miss the days when I used to wait,
Impatiently for the night, for our virtual date.
Beautiful were those hours, I spent awake
My walls still whisper your words, but now they sound so fake.

You can hear me whisper your name, with a sigh,
You know it all, still you deny.
I miss those moments of our frolic talks,
And imagining your fingers, stroking my locks.

I still hold your hand, and brush your lips with my lid,
And hint to you all that deep in my heart hid.
Feeling your gentle caress at the back of my neck,
Oh my my… and you let loose the beck…

Come, hold me in your arms, let’s start afresh,
Hold me close and create a beautiful mesh.
My wrecked emotions are driving me insane,
Please don’t leave my little heart in so much pain.

My dreams are still shaded with hope-filled hue,
Your presence is as soothing as morning dew.
Hey, come… fill my world with your love rays,
Listen but once to what my love says…

“A million night stars can’t replace the light of one Sun,
You are missed, much missed Hun…”

P.S.: Please come back...

Search...

My thirst for love feels never quenching,
My quest…seems complicating,
Years of search and no result yet,
Losing even before playing, is this all to get.

Travelling I came to get the best,
Still my soul, is not at rest,
Many more miles to go ahead,
Till my tears become red.

One more life to this world I’ll have to give,
To win my love from it, I believe.

Move on….

When tears froze in eyes,
When the heart cries,
When someone you love bid good-byes,
And still you console yourself with lies…
Gather yourself and realize…

Now its time to move on…
You know that it’s gone…forever gone…
There is life to live beyond.
You know…
There is another plan, just move on…
Move on… (Chorus)

I know what you have endured,
I know you had pleaded to Lord.
But it just wasn’t meant to be,
So, God has just set you free.
You deserve a new beginning, trust me…

You have carried the guilt, without any fault.
Yeah I know, sometimes the feelings revolt.
Yet you don’t have to stick to the past.
Hold my hand and your loneliness won’t last.
Let your fate lead you to what will ever last…

Even the darkness has a message,
That it’s just a connecting passage.
Your destiny awaits…overcome your trance,
Bestowed upon you will be another chance.
Embrace this world, its true romance…

You are true romance…yeah it’s you
You are true romance…

Confessions of an unspoken love

Those intense eyes pull me towards them from farthest distance;
I try to avoid his presence on any pretence.
The apparition of his strong scent, holds my breath even a mile away;
And the chivalrous mannerisms make him more desirable with every passing day.

His vigour sends shivers down my spine;
And his voice soothes my ruffled emotions that pine.
I extend my hand to reach him, but he always seems too far,
His pose has the rawness of Adonis at war.

I think, how it would feel to be in his embrace;
Could it be my cocoon, warm and protecting my grace?
I question myself, “Do I know him well? Or, in fact, do I know him at all?”
Journey with him looks like the wild’s call.

Apprehensions and hope, realism and faith …
Mind and heart caught in all-day debate.
Wish I could read those eyes and decipher that smile;
The flow of his expressions is enigmatic and agile.

I guess, am on a trip back to my teen,
Where the world is fragrant and musical, with a pinkish sheen;
If it’s an actuality, then let it gleam;
Else don't wake me up from my beautiful dream.

The daughter of sand

The daughter of sand, golden and free-flowing;
Her eyes were oasis, calm and mellowing.
Hot as the sun, and cool as the moon;
She travelled the lonely roads, singing the winds tune.

She had seen many nomads, and travelers passing by;
Since years she had been bidding them good-bye.
She never stuck, but touched too gently;
And blessed all those, who crossed her way, generously.

Her loneliness remained, marked with few footprints;
All the dreams she had were in faded tints.
Years passed by, and she waited patiently;
Oasis of her eyes, drenched the path intently.

It was the full moon night, as bright as it could be;
Far on the horizon, some light twinkling she could see.
Her deepest desire was once again so alive;
The beam suddenly seemed her reason to survive.

He was the one, the one with golden voice;
His gaze fixed on her, to her soul’s rejoice.
He whispered something, she couldn’t make;
But it was the moment, and a decision to take.

Let it go, or you too flow;
Is he the one, how would you know?
She followed her heart; she knew it couldn’t be wrong;
She had heard him hum her solitude’s song.

No questions asked, no promises made;
“I trust you love”; that’s all she said.
She followed him in silence of the lighted night;
Surrendering too willing to all his might.

He taught her to smile, he taught her to cry;
In his arms she discovered, how it felt to be shy.
Every word he said, on the sandy golden bed;
Was a crimson dream and desires were red.

The less he spoke, the more she heard;
Least did she know, he was a passing bird.
Then the day came; and he bid her good-bye;
Her heart ached bad; she wondered why!

She wished him to stop; she wanted him to wait;
And first time she realized the power of fate.
He gifted her water, as clear as her eyes;
“This is all I can give, now it’s your choice.”

“But promise me dear, you would never cry;
Someone will pass this way soon, and time will fly.
You won’t be lonely forever, love is not far.
You will find true mate, you are my shining star.”

She wondered what it all meant,
Was he really praising, or mellowing his regret!
She gathered her shattered self, and looked in his eyes,
Unable to believe, in them she saw her sunrise!

Holding his face in her hands,
She said “I belong here, to these sands,
I never break, nor cry, you may think but why!
You may feel I am fragile, but I can absorb all your lie.

I will never tell what you did,
I know now you want to get rid.
So, go on my traveler, go where you belong,
With me I have my sand and my song.

I am the daughter of this golden sand,
I am soft and porous, unlike your land.
All you could give was this water, you poured,
I forgive you for all the false dreams you showed.

No one will ever know, that you had passed through,
Or that something between us brew,
This water you dropped, shall never be seen,
Your image will ever be clean.

But there are few things that I have no control on,
Because this is the way I am born.
You may forget, but this water will remain,
Not visible above, but deep in my vein.

This is not to stop you I say,
If someone digs deep, they will know what underneath lay.
This love can’t be evaporated with any magic wand,
And she will love forever, the daughter of this sand.”

Will you!!!

Will you make love to me tonight,
Will you hold me and tell me, when the day breaks
I will see through your eyes,
I will feel through your skin,
The moist wind that will bring to you my lost fragrance.

Will you look into my eyes once again,
Will you wait for me to be awake
I want the same coffee mug, to be placed near me
I want the same photograph, that froze our pretty moments
Pack them up with me, as I begin to sail in beautiful lake.

Will you still wait for me?
Will you still be angry if I am late?
I won’t argue again, let you speak throughout our conversation
I won’t be able to laugh now, at my own mistakes
But I am sure you will smile, when you remember your mate.

Will you make love to me tonight?
Will you hold me near to hear my breath?
Will you answer all questions today?
Or do you still want me to wait!

I think of you

I think of you as a river,
Flowing wild & stronger than ever;
Touching every shore that comes its way
Tasting every bit, not to leave any.

At one moment becoming her NOVA
Yet another a devastating CASANOVA
Flowing with all its speed & might,
A river too keeps its destination in sight.

However licentious, still it’s pure,
As it meets the OCEAN which accepts it for sure;
And its virginity lies in the fact,
That it has left behind all its act.

What matters now is one thing wholly,
NOW it belongs to ocean solely.

All that you give…mom!!

I still remember you standing at the door of the hall,
School’s poem recitation competition and I was at stall.
My two lined poem, a fun stock for others,
With tears in my eyes I climbed down the ladders…
It was you my mom, who held me close…
My failure never mattered with your love dose.

I saw you leaving the last apple for me,
And never thanked you for waiting in the balcony.
How many times…you missed buying a saree,
Because my dress needed a little more spree.
You sat with books, for nights together,
To make me the best known scholar ever.

I know you cried... your pillow still damp,
But never forgo being my lamp.
I never apologized, after any little row,
Still you were there with dinner at my door.
I never understood, what keeps you so kind,
Never did revenge ever cross your mind?

I continue to be the same blatant daughter,
Where you remain same, my loving mother.
Your mealtime stories, your soft little lullaby,
All went in vain, do I remember any?
Don’t worry mom, they are all in my heart,
And I promise to dispense them, down the path.
